LEST WE FORGET 261 McRAE, Randle Richard WWI &WWII Randle was born on June 20, 1897 in Indian Head, NWT. He enlisted in the RNWMP Overseas Cavalry Draft Canadian Expeditionary Force on April 30, 1918. He arrived in England on June 21, 1918. He was discharged on May 21, 1919 and received the British War Medal, Victory Medal and the George Medal. He enlisted with the Army on May 1, 1943 and served with the Veterans Guard guarding German Prisoners of War until his discharge in 1946. He received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal. Randle passed away on January 16, 1989. METCALF, D. Roland WWII Roland was born in 1913 in Walpole, Saskatchewan. He joined as a member of Canada’s Army in 1941 in Toronto. He trained in Petawawa and Cornwall and then went overseas on the ship “The Empress of Japan” and landed in Greenwich, Scotland, on June 10, 1941. He was with the 31st Battery, 1st Light Machine Gun. He returned to Canada on a French ship “La France”. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Wawota Branch 113 for 43 years. Roland passed away in 2003. MERCEREAU, Alice Emma Marie WWII Alice was born on July 13, 1920 in Carlton, Saskatchewan. She joined the Canadian Women’s Army Corps on July 7, 1943 and was discharged on April 15, 1946. She served as a clerk (GD) GP “C” and Clerk Departmental GP “B” at the National Defence Headquarters in Ottawa. She married Leonard Craig in 1946. She resided in Saskatoon and passed away on April 13, 2006. She received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal for her dedication.
