LEST WE FORGET 259 McMILLEN, Frederick Sterling Miller WWII Sterling was born in Carievale, Saskatchewan, on April 22, 1922. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in January 1941. He completed basic training in Brandon, Manitoba and then was sent on a four-month aero engine course, achieving the rank of Leading Aircraftsman. Sterling left for overseas service from Halifax in February 1942. He was stationed in Ayres, Scotland and Wick, Scotland with 406 Squadron – Hudson Aircraft, Ballykelly, Northern Ireland with 410 Squadron – Beaufighter Aircraft and in England with 407 Squadron – Hudson and Wellington Aircraft. He served from January 1941 to June 1945. Sterling passed away on July 17, 2010. McPHERSON, Angus Stirling PEACETIME Angus was born in Spy Hill, Saskatchewan, on January 22, 1943. He enlisted in Peacetime with the Canadian Army on January 30, 1962 and served with the 2nd Battalion PPCLI in Edmonton, 1st Battalion PPCLI in Victoria and with NATO in Germany from 1963 to 1965. Angus has been a member of The Royal Canadian Legion since 1967. McPHEE, Robert Gordon WWII Robert was born in 1922 in Halkirk, Alberta. He took most of his schooling in Birch Hills, SK, and enlisted with the RCAF in 1941 in Edmonton. He was stationed near Bath, England, and worked in the Radar department. He lived most of his life in Kinistino, SK, and worked hard for the Legion Branch 129. He and his teammates represented Saskatchewan twice at the Dominion Legion Sr. Curling and were runners up. He transferred his membership when he moved to Saskatoon in 1994. He particularly enjoyed dances at the Nutana Legion. Robert passed away on July 11, 2006.
