LEST WE FORGET 225 KOTSCHOREK, Robert Gustov Bernard WWII Robert was born on February 8, 1920 in the Prairie Rose district of Saskatchewan. He enlisted with the Army on January 18, 1940 and served with the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry in Canada and the Central Mediterranean area. He was wounded in action on March 29, 1944 in Italy, resulting in his death just days later on April 1, 1944. He received the following awards: 1939-1945 Star, the Italy Star, the Defence Medal, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal, the War Medal 1939-1945. In recognition, the Province of Saskatchewan named Kotchorek Lake to honour A/L/Cpl. Robert Kotschorek. KUZNIAR, Bruno WWII Bruno was born on October 12, 1920 in Sichow, Poland. He immigrated to Canada with his family and they settled in Saskatchewan. He volunteered his service to the Army and was part of the Regina Rifles. He served in Canada, England and North Africa before he was badly wounded in Italy. Upon his recovery, he returned to Canada and began farming. He was an active member of The Royal Canadian Legion Snowden Branch 205 for 45 years and never missed a Remembrance Day Ceremony. Bruno passed away on May 26, 1968. KUCH, Terry Douglas COLDWAR Terry, son of Carl and Mildred Kuch, was born in Stratford, Ontario, on August 9, 1937. He enlisted in the RCAF in 1956, with his heart set on flying the F-86 Sabre. After training at Penhold, Portage la Prairie and Chatham, his desire was granted with a posting to the 444 Squadron (Cobra) at Baden-Soelingen, West Germany, at the controls of the F-86, patrolling the East-German border and experiencing several confrontations with Soviet MiGs. After returning to Canada in 1960, Terry married Lenore Anderson, of Melfort, SK, granddaughter of Burpee and Mary Anderson of Silton, SK. Leaving the Air Force in 1961, Terry and Lenore entered the hardware business in Lakefield, ON. Terry passed away on February 2, 2018 in Peterborough, ON.
