LEST WE FORGET 217 KING, Walter John WWII Walter was born on May 2, 1926 in Ponteix, Saskatchewan. He enlisted with the Canadian Army in October 1944 at the age of eighteen. He trained in Calgary and served until his discharge in April 1946. After the war, he worked at various jobs in Saskatchewan and eventually he purchased land. He married Phyllis in 1951 and they raised a family of four children. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Ponteix Branch 297 for twenty years. Walter passed away on July 25, 2002. KINNEE, Ronald Alfred “Ron” WWII Ron was the second son of Wesley and Ruby Kinnee. He attended public and High School in Carlyle, Saskatchewan.When the Second World War broke out, Ron enlisted in the RCAF. He trained as a pilot and received Sergeant status. He was killed overseas while testing repaired aircraft. KINNEE, Gordon Wesley “Gord” WWII Gord was born on July 28, 1912 to Wesley and Ruby Kinnee. He went to Carlyle, SK, in 1909 on a harvest train and worked in the Barber Shop owned by Mr. Burnett. In 1910, he purchased the business. Gord worked with Dr. McKellar while completing High School. When the Second World War broke out, he enlisted with #8 Canadian General Hospital - RCAMC as a Dental Technician. He went overseas in 1941 and was discharged in 1945. Gord received the following awards: G.V.S. Medal and Clasp, the 1939-1945 Star, the Defence Medal, the France and Germany Star. After the war, Gord went into business with his father. He married Erma Beatty and they had two children: Ron and Rick. Gord passed away January 22,1999.
