LEST WE FORGET 213 KACHMARSKI, Michael WWII Michael was born in 1919 in Krydor, Saskatchewan. He enlisted with the Army in June 1941 and worked in construction. He served in Canada, the United Kingdom and Continental Europe until his discharge in March 1946. After the war, he farmed in the Speers area. He moved to Hatford in 1978 and helped his sons on the farm when he could. Michael passed away in 2004. KEENAN, George Stevens WWI &WWII George was born in Galicia, Austrian Empire, in 1901. During World War I, at the age of fifteen and using the assumed name Stevens Green, George joined the Canadian Expeditionary Force in Prince Albert in 1916. He served with the 243rd Battalion under O.C.J.E. Bradshaw in Canada and in England. He went overseas in 1917 and returned in 1919. During World War II, using the name George Stevens Keenan, he joined #6 Armoured Fighting Vehicles in 1943 and served in Canada. He was very seriously injured during a training accident in Dundurn. Following a long recovery, he returned to his family and his work at Imperial Oil in Regina. The family discovered a photograph of the entire 243rd on a Legion wall in Prince Albert taken before shipping out overseas but because of his tender age at this time, it has not yet been possible to identify him. George passed away in 1986. KAKAKAWAY, Albert WWII Albert was from Keeseekoose, Saskatchewan. He joined the 16/22 Saskatchewan Horse Regiment. Albert passed away on October 11, 1942 at the age of 22. He is buried at the Cote Reserve Cemetery. His geomemorial is Kakakaway Lake, south of Black Bird Lake.
