LEST WE FORGET 205 JAMES, Charles Wolseley WWI &WWII Charles was born on October 10, 1895 in London, England. He arrived in the Bratton area to homestead with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur James, and his two sisters, Maggie and Katie. Charlie enlisted in World War I at Saskatoon on October 13, 1915 at the age of twenty. He served with the 46th Battalion of the Canadian Expeditionary Force and the 65th Battalion for seventeen months in France. After a gunshot wound to his left forearm on August 13, 1918, he convalesced at the Canadian Military Hospital set up at Bearwood Mansion where over 900 Canadian soldiers were sent. He was granted permission to marry Agnes Wyatt on November 2, 1918. He received his discharge on January 23, 1919. Back in the Bratton area, he and Agnes raised three children, Eileen, Sadie and Thomas, while farming and participating in community activities. Charles re-enlisted during World War II and was released on July 13, 1945 by reason of long service. He passed away on December 18, 1966 and is buried in St. Peter’s Anglican Cemetery in Summerland, BC. JANUS, Henry Marie WWII Henry was born in 1921 in Lashburn, Saskatchewan. He served in the Army during World War II. He spent a lot of time rebuilding telephone lines. Since his grandparents came from Holland, he spent time visiting and getting to know them and do as much as he could to help them. They had been severely ravaged by the war. Henry passed away in 2013. JAMES, Howard PEACETIME Howard was born in Waldeck, Saskatchewan, in 1932. He enlisted in the RCAF on January 15, 1951. He served in the electronic engineering field until his discharge on November 1979. He served at RCAF Stations in Canada and Europe and training bases in the USA, as well as Command Headquarters. He is presently residing in the Ottawa area.
