LEST WE FORGET 201 HUNTER, Stewart David WWII Stewart was born in 1926 in Elfros, Saskatchewan. He joined the Army on February 13, 1945 and served with Infantry in Canada until his discharge. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Elfros Branch 237 for 38 years. Stewart passed away in 1985. HUSAK, Peter WWII Peter was the son of Alex and Irene Husak of Arran, Saskatchewan. He joined the Canadian Army in 1941 and served with the Algonquin Regiment. He was killed overseas during World War II on March 7, 1945 at the age of 25. HUSACK, William “Bill” WWII William was born in Wroxton, Saskatchewan, on March 11, 1923. He enlisted in the Army during World War II. He was trained as a soldier and then as a mechanic-driver. Bill was stationed in Shilo, Hamilton, Port Arthur, Maple Creek, Dundurn and Regina. After the war, he worked at a lumber camp in Flin Flon and nickel mine in Lynn Lake, Manitoba. Bill married Gloria Balabuk in 1952 and they moved into their home in Calder. In 1962, he built a new house on the same lot. In 1964, he built the Coffee Mug Café and they operated it together until the 1970s. He was mechanically minded and invented a PTO-powered grinder because there was no power on the farm and held Canadian and US patents for the device. Bill passed away on December 13, 2014.
