LEST WE FORGET 193 HOLMES, Maurice WWI &WWII Maurice was born in 1893 in Millhaven, Ontario. In 1914, he joined the 43rd Cameron Highlanders. He was wounded in the right leg and thigh and became a Prisoner of War in 1918. He arrived in France from Germany on December 21, 1918 and was taken to England to the hospital in January 1919. He spent two years in hospitals and was discharged on April 7, 1920. On August 5, 1940, he joined the 2nd Battalion of the South Saskatchewan Regiment as Quartermaster, attached to the staff of Estevan Headquarters and did recruiting. He was an original member of The Royal Canadian Legion 306. Maurice passed away in 1947. HOOKER, Rex Murray WWII Rex was born in 1921 in Wapella, Saskatchewan. He joined the 2nd Anti-Tank Regiment in 1939 and served overseas until he was killed in action on May 1, 1945, just seven days before the end of the war. Lance Bombadier Rex Murray Hooker is buried in Holten Canadian War Cemetery, Overijssel, Netherlands. Hooker Lake just east of Wollaston Lake is named in his honour. HOLUKOFF, Peter WWII He served with Canadian Armed Forces during the Second World War. Peter was killed in action in 1944.
