LEST WE FORGET 105 DAVIS, Robert James WWII Robert was born in 1925 in Naicam, Saskatchewan. He was a Rear Gunner that served in Squadron 420 in the RCAF during World War II and for many years after. He served in England and flew many missions over enemy territory throughout the war. He was the first President of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 306 in Leroy, Saskatchewan, and a member for eighteen years. Robert passed away in 1964. DAYMAN, Aubrey WWII Aubrey Dayman was born on June 7, 1915 in Broderick, Saskatchewan, to Charles and Lizzie Dayman. He and his siblings, Thelma, Allan, Loye and Jean, grew up on the family farm. Because the family lost the farm in the Depression, Aubrey sought work at a number of farms in Alberta. In the spring of 1942, Aubrey was hired by the military to survey telephone lines in northern British Columbia. He later trained in Kingston with the Signal Corps and was stationed in England and France. Near the end of the war, he served during the Liberation of Holland. Following the war, he was employed by the BC Government Telephone and Telegraph System. He met his wife, Jean Quail, a telephone operator, in Fernie. They married on July 15, 1950 and had three daughters: Wendy, Pam and Susan. Aubrey retired in 1980 and passed away on April 23, 1981. DAW, Laurence Edward WWII Laurence was born on November 1, 1918 in Balcarres, Saskatchewan. He enlisted with the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1940 and served with Squadron 502. He was listed as missing in action on June 1, 1943 in the Bay of Biscay.
