The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 69 BUTTERFIELD, John WWI John was born in Keighley, Yorkshire, England on May 6, 1887. He enlisted with the Army in Regina, Saskatchewan on August 24, 1915. He served with the 3rd Canadian Pioneers, the 53rd Battalion, 16th P.F.A. and 1 A.S.C. during First World War. He was killed in a gas attack near Saint-Julien on May 24, 1916. Prior to enlisting he was a storekeeper and had served six years in the Military in varying roles. He was buried as a Private at Menin Road South Military Cemetery in WestVlaanderen, Belgium. BUTTERFIELD, John D. WWI John was born in Willingham, Lincolnshire, England on April 19, 1890. Prior to enlisting in the Army he was a farmer. He enlisted in Regina, Saskatchewan on January 5, 1915. He served with the Fort Garry Horse/Canadian Reserve Cavalry Regiment during the First World War. On August 11, 1918 he was injured from a round to the left leg; this caused a fractured fibula and tibia. He had reached the rank of Lt. on June 1, 1917. After being injured he was transferred back to Canada with the CRC Regiment. He was then released and given land to Homestead. BYERS, Everett WWII Everett was born in Frobisher. He took his schooling there and farmed in this district until he took up a homestead at Minton, Saskatchewan. He later moved to Broomhead and then to Lintlaw, SK. Everett was a veteran of the Second World War, serving overseas in the Army. He now resides at Bonanza, Alberta.
