The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 383 WOZNY, Rosalie Teresa WWII Rosalie was born in Mullingar, Saskatchewan in 1913. She joined the U.S. Army in 1939. She served two tours in the China-India-Burma theatre, Japan, Korea, Panama Canal and stateside. Her honours include: AsiaticPacific Campaign, American Campaign, WWII Victory Medal, Army of Occupation Medal and National Defence Medal. She received a Meritorious Service Citation in the China-India-Burma theatre. Rosalie worked at the 14th Evacuation Hospital caring for injured service personnel, refugees and members of the Merrill’s Marauders. During her service, she obtained her U.S. citizenship. In 1954, she received an Honourable Discharge from the Army Nurse Corps as a Captain. She was an active member of the Disabled American Veterans Scottsdale, Chapter 22. In 1979, she received a Certificate of Appreciation from the Commander of the DAV Chapter 22 for her service. Rosalie was a Charter Member of the Women in Military Service for America Memorial at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C. Rosalie passed away in 2006. WOZNY, Zigmund Stanley “Ziggy” WWII & KOREAN WAR Ziggy was born on May 28, 1919 in Hafford, Saskatchewan. He was a member of the Regina Rifles Regiment. He joined the military in 1939 and served in several capacities until his retirement in 1968 at age fifty. He served during the Second World War and the Korean War. Zigmund S. Wozny reached the rank of Lt. Colonel during his distinguished military service. He received the following medals: 1939-1945 Star, Italy Star, Defence Medal, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, War Medal 1939-1945, Korea Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Korea Service Badge and Canadian Forces Decoration. Ziggy passed away on October 28, 2007 in Vancouver, British Columbia. WRIGHT, Arthur Herbert WWI Arthur was born in Havenhill, England on March 29, 1878. He was working as a carpenter when he enlisted in the Army in Regina on March 20, 1915. He served during the First World War. Arthur passed away in 1956 and is buried in Regina Beach Cemetery.
