The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 371 WELDON, William “Shorty” WWI William was born on September 23, 1893 in Cardiff, Wales. He moved to Canada in 1902; first to Ontario and then to Girvin, Saskatchewan in 1914 to work on farms. He served with the Canadian Army during the First World War. After the war he filed for a homestead in the Jordan River area. He married Annie in 1922 and they raised a family of four children. William passed away in 1983. WELLS, Burton WWII Burton was born in 1922 in Hazenmore, SK. He joined the Army in 1942 and served in the United Kingdom, North Africa, Sicily, Italy, France, Belgium, and Holland. In his active duty, he was wounded three times and he would have been eligible to return home, but chose to stay until the end of the war. He arrived back in Canada in November 945 and was discharged in January, 1946. He was married to Bertha Loverick, and they were blessed with two sons, Doug and Dale. At the time of his death in 2002, they had been married for 53 years. WELYKOCHY, John WWII John was born in Cudworth, Saskatchewan in 1922. He enlisted in the Army and served in Canada during the Second World War with the Royal Canadian Artillery as a gunner. He has been a member of Legion Branch 70 in North Battleford, SK for 74 years.
