The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 355 VERBOOM, Marinus WWI Marinus was born on December 3, 1894 in Kloetinge, Zeeland, Holland. He arrived in the United States on August 8, 1911 at the age of sixteen. He continued on to Canada a short time later where he applied for a homestead in the Ogema district. He enlisted with the Army on February 22, 1916 and served with the 152nd Battalion, Canadian Expeditionary Force. He served with the 5th Battalion in France until the end of the war. He was discharged on June 26, 1919. He was a Life Member of The Royal Canadian Legion Ogema Branch 67 with a total of 48 years of membership. Marinus passed away in 1973. WADMAN, Frederick WWI Frederick was born on April 11, 1885 in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. He was a carpenter in Lumsden, SK prior to his enlistment in the Army in Regina, SK on January 5, 1915. He served with the 58th Battalion during the First World War. He died while fighting for Mount Sorrel, three kilometers East of Ypres on July 9, 1916. He is buried at Railway Dugouts Burial Ground in Leper, Belgium. WAKEFORD, Herbert William WWI Herbert was born in Birkfalls, Ontario on September 2, 1895. He enlisted in the Army and served with the Canadian Overseas Expeditionary Force during the First World War. He lost his arm in the battle of Vimy Ridge. Herbert was killed in a farm accident on June 29, 1949 on his farm in Droxford, Saskatchewan. He is buried in an unmarked grave in Rosedale Cemetery in Moose Jaw, SK.
