The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 347 TROTTER, Phyllis In 1943 and 1958, Phyllis was president of the Saskatchewan Ladies Golf Association, as well as the Canadian Ladies Golf Association in 1958. TURCHAK, Mike WWII Mike was born on November 30, 1919 in Fenwood, Saskatchewan. Mike enrolled into the Army through the National Resources Mobilization Act on June 11, 1941 and served in the 1st Canadian Division, 2nd Regiment in Sicily, Italy, France, Germany and Holland during the Second World War. Mike was also a volunteer for the Pacific Theatre and received his discharge papers at Regina, SK on November 16, 1945 with the rank of Bombardier. Mike received the following medals for his service: 1939-1945 Star, Italy Star, France and Germany Star, Defence Medal, 1939-1945 Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and the Dutch Thank You Canada Medal. Mike was a member of the R.G. Combe Legion Branch 61 in Melville, SK for over forty years before he passed away on June 29, 2003. TWIST, Pryce Llewelyn PEACETIME Pryce was born on July 14, 1890 in a northern Welsh farm community to John and Jane (Griffith), total family of thirteen. The children were raised on a farm and educated in Wales. Pryce joined the Calvary Reserve in his late teens, as jobs were few to be had in those days. Being in the Cavalry was just an extension of the farm to him. At the age of 22, he decided to migrate to Canada in the hopes of becoming a farmer. Early in the new year of 1913, he found work on a ship going to Canada that was carrying cattle and other goods. He ended up in Peterborough on a dairy farm, saved enough money to purchase farm equipment, horses, cattle, and sheep. Left by train with a couple of boxcars with their equipment and livestock to Frobisher, SK and arrived there in early March 1915. Pryce married Verna Bouey in 1925. They had three boys, Jack, Reece and William. Pryce passed away in 1982 at the age of 92 and is buried in Weyburn Cemetery.
