The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 307 SPEIR, John WWII John was born on August 16, 1921 in Cabri, Saskatchewan. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in October of 1941. He also served with the R.A.F as a navigator on Lancaster Bombers until his discharge on April 4, 1945. After his discharge he became a Municipal Administrator. John passed away in 1999 at the age of 78. SPENST, James Clifford “Jim” WWII Jim was born on April 5, 1926 in Waldeck, Saskatchewan to Cornellas and Marie Fast. He had nine siblings. The family moved to Meadow River when he was two years old. He took his schooling in Meadow Lake Public School. He enlisted during the Second World War at the age of fifteen in North Battleford in the Light Infantry Reserves Army. On November 11, 1943 he enlisted in Regina in the active service. He took a driving course with the Service Corp and transferred overseas to England for the Northern Invasion then south from 1944 to 1946. He was transferred to France, Belgium, Holland and Germany in the 52nd PL 2nd Corps. He had Christmas in England and New Years in Canada. He married Lorna Elaine Peterson and had five children. ST. AMAND, Norman WWII Norman was born on March 18, 1921 in Zenon Park, Saskatchewan. He enlisted with the Army Postal Corps doing clerical work on November 6, 1942 and served in Canada and England until his discharge on April 12, 1946. After the war he farmed and helped his parents at the hotel. In 1948 he helped build a new hotel. He married and raised a family of seven. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Arborfield Branch. Norman passed away on November 7, 1983.
