The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 303 SMITH, William Robert WWII William was born on December 21, 1919 in Elbow, Saskatchewan. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in July of 1941 as Warrant Officer 1st Class with the 295 Squadron- Navigator, Coastal Command and served in England and Canada until his discharge in October of 1945. After the war he married and raised a family in Calgary, Alberta. William passed away on November 22, 2002. SMUT, George WWII George enlisted with the Canadian Army Active on December 8, 1943. He served in England, France, and Germany until his discharge on June 27, 1946 with the rank of R.F.N. He received the following medals: France and Germany Stars, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, and the 1939-1945 Star. He married in 1950 and they raised a family of six sons and three daughters. He joined the Sheho Legion Branch and served for nineteen years. George passed away in 1980. SNELL, Robert WWII Robert was born in 1921 in Big River, Saskatchewan. He enlisted with the Army in 1941. After basic training he was shipped overseas with the Saskatoon Light Infantry. He participated in the invasion of Sicily, the Italian Campaign and in the Liberation of Holland. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Big River Branch 136 for thirty years before he passed away on December 20, 2005.
