The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 293 SHINNAN, William WWI William was born in Girvan, Scotland on February 4, 1896. After farming around Lumsden, Saskatchewan, he enlisted in the Army in Regina, SK on August 17, 1915. He served with the 29th and 48th Battalion during the First World War. Private Shinnan’s military career was plagued by multiple illnesses before finally being wounded and then missing in action on Hill 70 in France on August 21, 1917. He was later presumed killed in action and is commemorated on the Vimy Memorial. SHORE, Arthur WWII Arthur was born in 1920 in the Connell Creek area. He enlisted with the Army in October of 1941 and served with the C.S.R.U. as a Cook in Canada and England until his discharge in 1945.He married while serving overseas. He purchased land in 1950 in the Grassy Run area and farmed there until 1958 when he moved his wife and four children to Arborfield. Arthur passed away on July 26, 1999. SILZER, Henry Frank WWII Henry enlisted in the Army and served during the Second World War. Private Silzer served as a gunner and was hit with shrapnel.
