The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 283 SCHMITT, Bill WWII Bill was born in 1920 in Holdfast, SK. The family moved to Arborfield in 1934. He enlisted with the Royal Canadian Air Force on June 9, 1941 and served as a Pilot with 34 ops under his belt until his discharge on September 1, 1945. He was awarded the D.F.C. 1943 by King George VI for his leadership, skill and determination under enemy fire to complete his missions. He returned to Arborfield and married and raised two children. Bill passed away in 2004. SCHWAB, Thomas PEACETIME Thomas was born in North Battleford in 1962. He joined the Army during Peacetime with the North Saskatchewan Regiment and served in Canada. He served from 1980 to 1982 and from 1985 to 1988 in the Canadian Forces Reserve in Infantry and Non-Trade as a Driver. He was honourably released on October 26, 1988. Thomas has been a member of Battleford Legion Branch 9 for two years. SCOTT, Charles Cecil WWII Charles was born on February 3, 1905 in Wellingore, England. He moved with his family in 1909 to Lipton, SK. He married Sophie Shychoski on October 8th, 1930 and they made their home in Sheho. He volunteered for active service in September of 1940 and served with the Royal Canadian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers in France, Belgium, and Holland until his discharge in 1945. He was the charter president of the Sheho Legion Branch 356 and was awarded a Legion Certificate of Merit for 32 years of service. Charles passed away on September 23, 1982.
