The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 273 SACKNEY, Joseph WWII Joseph was born in Sheho, SK. He enlisted with the Canadian Army Active when the Second World War broke out. He served in Canada and in England. In May of 1943, while on a maneuver in England, Joseph was accidentally killed. He is buried in one of the Soldiers Cemeteries in England. SAMENOOK, Allen Robert KOREAN WAR & SPECIAL DUTY AREA Allen was born in Estevan, Saskatchewan in 1959. He enlisted in the Air Force; from 1977 to 1996 as a Canada Helicopter Technician; 1989 to 1990 UN Central America and 2006 to the present as a Canada Helicopter Technician. In 2010-2011, he served with the Canadian Helicopter Force in Afghanistan. He has received the Canadian Peacekeeping Service Medal, UN Medal Central America, CDI Canadian Force Decoration and the Afghanistan Campaign Star. SAMENOOK, Anthony “Tony” WWII Tony was born in Estevan, Saskatchewan in 1916. He enlisted in the Army and served with the Royal Canadian Service Corps in England primarily driving trucks for the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps ferrying personnel and supplies of all sorts during the Second World War. He received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal, Overseas Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. Tony was a member of the Estevan Legion Branch 60 for sixty years before he passed away in 2008.
