The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 271 SABISTON, William Wallace George WWII Wallace was born in Bankend, Saskatchewan in 1919. He enlisted in the Army during the Second World War with the Royal Winnipeg Rifles R.C.I.C and served in Canada, England and France. Wallace was killed in action on June 26, 1944 in France. He is buried at Bretteville-sur-Laize Canadian War Cemetery, Calvados, France. Wallace left behind a wife, Faith Mary, and a young son, Reginald Edward. SABROE, Ernest William WWI & WWII Ernest was born in Odense, Denmark in 1890. At the age of seventeen he moved to the United States where he worked for four years before moving to Canada. He settled in the district southeast of Frobisher and was engaged in farming. In 1925, he married Mary Lancaster and had six children – Mary, John, Irene and three sons – Neil and James who passed away in infancy, and Ernest who passed away accidentally in 1966. After many poor crop years, he took over the Post Office duties on October 1, 1938. In 1942 he joined the Veterans Guards of Canada and served his country until 1945. He also served in the Navy during the First World War. After a lengthy illness he passed away in November 1949. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion in Frobisher. SACKNEY, Harry WWII Harry enlisted with the Royal Canadian Artillery during the Second World War and served in Canada and in England until his discharge. After the war he returned to Sheho and farmed for quite a few years. He joined the Foam Lake Legion Branch in 1947 and was transferred to the Sheho Branch in 1950 when it was formed. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion for over 35 years before he passed away in March of 1987.
