The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 255 RENNIE, Francis Clayton “Frank” WWI Francis was born on November 10, 1890 in Frobisher, Saskatchewan. He was a salesman, and one of Frobisher’s most eligible bachelors. He joined the Army near the end of the First World War, he said he fought, but had to join anyway. Frank was another of Frobisher’s merchants. After John Forsyth sold out, he started a business on the premises. When Frank moved, he took over the W. Lochart building which is now the Senior Citizen Centre. Later he sold the Gent’s Furnishings to his brother Len. He then moved into the Wood’s and Wylie building across the street and took on the General Motors and Massey Harris dealerships. When the depression closed him out, he worked as a truck driver, then as manager of the L. E. Rennie branch butcher shop in Glen Ewen. After which he worked for Wm. Boyd in the Glen Ewen hotel until 1938 when he went to Winnipeg with Mr. Cooney to start an armored car service and ended up as a salesman. He retired to Frobisher in 1940 and died in 1941 at the age of 51. RENNIE, Jack Douglas WWII Jack was the second son of Arthur and Leah (Remmer) born at home in Frobisher, Saskatchewan. Jack had a brother named Grant. He attended South Frobisher, Roscoe and Frobisher schools. Jack moved to Regina sometime between 1936 to 1940 and was in the Royal Canadian Air Force during the Second World War from 1940 to 1945. In 1945 he married Verna L. Hansen from Mont Nebo, Saskatchewan. They had one son Douglas Arthur born in 1954 at Vancouver, British Columbia where they still reside. RENNIE, John Malcolm WWII John was born in 1925 in Wadena, SK. He enlisted with the Canadian Army on January 25, 1944 and served in England, France, Germany, and Belgium with the Scottish Regiment, 2nd Division, 6th Brigade until 1946. He received the following decorations: France and Germany Star, King George 1939-1945 Medal, and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Kelvington Branch for fifteen years. John passed away on February 16, 2005.
