The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 241 PREDIGER, Peter “Pete” WWII Pete was born in Odessa, Russia. He served during the Second World War. During an athletic career that spanned more than forty years, Pete became known as an outstanding competitor, coach and official in baseball and hockey. He was associated with the Neilberg Monarchs for 38 years, as a player, and a player/manager/coach from 1956 to 1966. Between 1950 and 1955, Pete played with the North Battleford Beavers, in the Western Canada Baseball League. They were the league champions in 1952. In 1936, Pete toured overseas with the Krefield Canadians hockey team. He also participated in the Saskatoon Exhibition Baseball Tournament for 34 years. PYLE, David “Dave” WWII Dave was born in Aberdeen, Scotland on June 30, 1917. He served during the Second World War. In 1950, Dave started out on a coaching career, which was to span three decades and see him become one of the most successful wrestling coaches in the country. Starting in 1952, Dave coached numerous provincial teams in national and international competition. Among his accomplishments were 115 provincial championships and 42 medals in Canadian competition. These national medals include 25 gold won by ten different wrestlers, five of whom went on to international competition. QUINN, George Dickson WWII George was born on March 12, 1906 in Kirkcaldy, Scotland. He immigrated to Canada in 1928 and worked in farms until he moved to the Stowlea District in 1934 to become a homesteader. He enlisted with the Artillery on August 12, 1943 and served in France, England, Belgium, Germany, and Holland until his discharge on March 8, 1946. He received the following medals: 1939-1945 Star, France and Germany Star, George VI DG Medal, and the 1939-1945 Canadian Volunteer Service Medal. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Turtleford Branch 128 for fifty years. George passed away in 2003.
