The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 239 POPP, Tim J. PEACETIME & RCMP Tim was born in Clinton, Ontario in 1958 and was raised in the Yukon Territory. Upon graduation from high school in 1976, he joined the Canadian Armed Forces and was posted to the 1st Battalion Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry at Calgary, Alberta. In 1978, he did a tour of duty overseas with the United Nations to Cyprus and was honourably discharged in 1979. In 1988, Tim joined the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and was posted to Saskatchewan serving in Nipawin, the Battlefords and Unity with “F” Division. He retired with the rank of Corporal with over 26 years of service and now lives in Battleford. He was awarded the Canadian Peacekeeping Medal, UN Medal for Cyprus, Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal, RCMP Long Service and Good Conduct Medal, Saskatchewan Centennial Medal and the Saskatchewan Protective Services Medal. Tim has been a member of Battleford Legion Branch 9 for 35 years. POSTON, Charles Dee WWII Charles was born at Mortlach, Saskatchewan on March 13, 1910. After his school days in Mortlach, he worked at General Motors in Regina for one year. Then he went on to do construction work until 1938, when he went to work at Humbolt Oil and Refining Col until the Second World War broke out and he joined the Army in January 1940. He spent five years and six months overseas, returning on July 24, 1945. He met Leone Lauretta Gosselin and married in Moose Jaw on April 11, 1946. He moved to Frobisher on April 22, 1946 and went farming north of town until they purchased The Frobisher Hotel. He sold the hotel and built a home in Frobisher. Charlie was elected to the Frobisher Town Council in January 1964. He served on Council for eight years and as Mayor for five years. They sold the farm in April 1973 and retired. Charles passed away on November 22, 1997 and is buried at the RC Cemetery at Gravelbourg, SK. PRATT, William William had lived around Regina Beach, Saskatchewan.
