The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 225 O’LANEY (PARKHILL), Barbara June WWII Barbara was born in 1926 in Weyburn, Saskatchewan. She enlisted in the Army with the Canadian Women’s Army Corps in Regina, SK in 1944. She took basic training in Kitchener, office training in Toronto and was posted to Halifax to the Corps of Royal Canadian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers during the Second World War. She was discharged in Regina in 1946. Barbara has been a member Battleford Legion Branch 9 for 32 years. O’LANEY, Maxwell Donald WWII Maxwell was born in Bifrost, Manitoba in 1923. He enlisted in the Army in Regina in 1942. He took basic training in Vernon, British Columbia then Shilo, Manitoba. He went overseas in 1942 and changed units to Motorcycle instructing and driving for CMHQ. He went to England, Belgium and Holland during the Second World War and was discharged in 1946. Maxwell has been a member of Battleford Legion Branch 9 for 38 years. OLIVER, Elgin WWI Elgin was born in Oxbridge, Ontario on January 18, 1892. He worked as an engineer prior to enlisting in the Army on December 14, 1914. He served with the 8th Battalion in France during the First World War. He was at the rank of Sergeant at the time he was killed in action in France on August 9, 1918.
