The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 223 NEUMANN, Harold Harold was born on October 11, 1931 to Adolph Ludwig and Maria (Kolke) at Openshaw. His siblings were Ewald, Otto, Leo, Walter, and Laura Freida. After school, Harold joined the Royal Canadian Air Force where he worked in the fire protection department. He left the Air Force and worked for civil defence as a firefighter. Eventually, this unit became amalgamated with the Toronto Fire Department where he worked until retirement. He married Barbara Ann Smith and they live in Mississauga, ON. They had three children: Carl, Lenore and Susan. Harold passed away in 2013. OBODIAC, Stanley “Stan” WWII Stan was born in Yorkton, Saskatchewan on July 2, 1922. He served with the Royal Canadian Air Force. Stan’s achievements in the world of hockey were not restricted to Canada. He played for the Lethbridge Maple Leafs when they won the 1951 World Hockey Championships in Paris, France. He also coached and played on European teams in Great Britain and Switzerland between 1948 and 1955. For 26 years, Stan worked as Director of Publicity for Maple Leaf Gardens and the Toronto Maple Leafs. He wrote the book “Maple Leaf Gardens: Fifty Years of History”, stories accumulated from anecdotes and memories of various personalities and events he had witnessed. Stan’s sports abilities were not restricted to hockey. He was also involved in softball, baseball, golf, basketball, soccer, and athletics. O’BRIEN, Clarence Clarence was the son of William and Myrtle Henderson and his family homesteaded in the Willmar, Saskatchewan district. His siblings were Velma, Joyce and Marion.
