The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 183 LIGGETT, David James “Dave” WWII Dave was born in N. Ireland in 1912. He went to his uncle’s farm at Moreland, Saskatchewan in 1929. He worked for many farms in the Lang and Yellow Grass area in the 1930s. He enlisted in the Army at Maple Creek in March 1943 and was sent overseas that fall. He served in England and France, Belgium and Holland with the Army Service Corps as Driver/Mechanic during the Second World War until his discharge in December 1945. Dave returned to the farm at Moreland in 1947 until his retirement to Pangman. Dave was a Life Member with the Pangman Legion Branch. He passed away in April 2004, and was survived by two sons, Jim and Fred. LITTLECROW, Harold WWII Harold was born in Moose Woods Indian Reserve in 1918. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Engineers in January 1941. He served in Britain for a time before taking part in the invasion of Normandy during the Second World War. Harold was killed in action in France on July 26, 1944 at the age of 26. A memorial service was held at the Moose Woods Indian Reserve schoolhouse where a large group assembled to remember a young man who was very well respected. LITTLECROW, Lorne WWII Lorne was born on Moose Woods Indian Reserve in 1922. He enlisted in the Army in June 1943 and served during the Second World War with the Regina Rifles in the United Kingdom and Continental Europe in the liberation of France, Belgium and Holland until his honourable discharge in July 1946. He was awarded the 1939-1945 Star, France and Germany Star and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp. Lorne passed away on December 28, 1988 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. He was a member of the Army, Navy and Air Force Veterans Club in Saskatoon, SK Branch 38 for ten years.
