The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 171 KIRKPATRICK, James “Kirk” WWII James was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on April 20, 1909. As a high school and Normal School teacher, Director of Physical Fitness and Recreation of Saskatchewan, Head of McGill University’s School of Physical Education and Dean of the Faculty of Education at the University of Saskatchewan, James has made significant contributions to sport. He served in the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1942 to 1944. KLAHOLZ, Jack PEACETIME Jack was born in Regina on April 1, 1929 to Ray and Katherine (Cowie). His siblings were Katherine and Joan. Jack was raised in Frobisher, taking all of his schooling there. He then attended university for a year but decided he wanted to try his first love, which was airplanes, so he joined the Air Force and trained at several bases including Gimli, Florida and a base on northern Vancouver Island. In 1955, Jack married Margot Chagnon; they were both in the Air Force; they were divorced in 1959. A few years later, he married Maureen Bradshaw, an English girl serving in the Air Force. They had one son Wallace. Maureen passed away after a valiant fight with cancer. Jack worked at the River View Hospital as a brain scan technician for a number of years. He married Pat Little and they lived in Port Coquitlam for a few years before Jack had a massive heart attack and passed away on July 18, 1992. KLEMPP, George Adam WWI George was born in Holstein, Ontario on November 25, 1895. He was called up/drafted in the Army on May 9, 1918 from farming around Lumden, SK. After serving during the First World War in England with the 15th Canadian Reserve Battalion and 1st Depot Battalion Saskatchewan, he was discharged on June 26, 1919. Upon discharge, he had the intention to return to Lumsden and continue farming. George passed away in 1962.
