The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 149 HOWARD, Herbert Leslie “Les” WWII Herbert was born on August 17, 1922 in Frys, Saskatchewan to Herbert Henry and Mary (Parker) and his siblings were Fredrick William, Everett Lyle, Bruce, Eva Mae, and Clayton William. The family moved to Frobisher in May 1934. Leslie served during the Second World War with the Royal Canadian Air Force from the fall of 1942 until the fall 1945. He served overseas in 1944 to 1945 in England and Ceylon as wireless air gunner with coastal command. He married Helen Kathleen Howell on September 10, 1947. Born to this marriage were four girls and one boy: Helen Mary, Gwendolyn Mae, Allan Leslie, Gayle Verdene and Vicki Kathleen. He passed away at Weyburn in May 1989 at the age of 66. HOWELL, Katie Katie was listed as having served and was from the Estevan area of Saskatchewan. HOWES, Rollin “Roly” WWII Roly was born in Indian Head, Saskatchewan on November 19, 1897. He served in the Army with the Canadian Expeditionary Force from 1915 to 1919. He is best known for his community service and his contributions to the development of amateur sport in Saskatchewan. He has served as president of a number of community and sport organizations. He was an avid supporter of the Saskatoon Hilltops Football Club, the Saskatoon City Police Boys’ Rifle Club, and the Fish and Game League. Roly is also an Honourary Life Member of the Saskatchewan Amateur Softball Association and the Saskatoon Optimist Club.
