The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 127 HALE, John Gerald WWI John was born in Bracebridge, Ontario on April 4, 1897. He moved to the Kisbey area with his parents and siblings in 1900. A few years later, the family moved to the Stoughton area. He enlisted in the Army on February 17, 1916 in Hartney, Manitoba and served during the Second World War. John passed away in 1947. HALE, Victor Harold WWI Victor was born in Muskoka, Ontario on July 1, 1877. He moved to Saskatchewan in 1900, homesteading southwest of Arcola and later moved to British Columbia. Victor enlisted in the Army on May 17, 1916 at Brisco, British Columbia. He served with the D Company 16th Reserve, CEF in Continental Europe during the First World War. Victor passed away in 1921. HALFPENNY, James WWI James was born in Mid Louther, Scotland on January 11, 1896. Enlisting in the Army on December 18, 1915, he left farming in Kennel, Saskatchewan to join the war effort. He served with the 68th and 8th Battalions during the First World War. He earned the Memorial Cross when he lost his life on July 5, 1916 in the defence of the Ypres Salient. He is commemorated on the Menin Gate Memorial at Ypres, Belgium.
