The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 119 GORE, Horace Victor WWI Horace was born in Simcoe, Ontario on August 18, 1885. He was a Steam Engineer in Regina when he travelled to Winnipeg to enlist in the Army on December 14, 1914. He served with the 5th Battalion during the First World War. On March 27, 1915 he developed acute appendicitis. He returned to active duty four months later. He was killed during the Battle of Sanctuary Wood in Belgium on June 6, 1916. He is buried at the Larch Wood Cemetery near Leper, Belgium. GOUDY, Emerson WWI Emerson was born in Lenox, Addington County, Ontario on March 28, 1892 to Ashley and Lucinda (Brown). The family went west on a colonist train and landed in Alameda on Easter Sunday in 1900. They lived in a teepee made of lumber until a sod shack was built. In 1917, Emerson joined the Air Force and was stationed at Toronto during the First World War, returning to Alameda when the war ended in 1918. He married Elda Erdman of Frobisher and ran a garage. They moved to Lampman as a linesman and his territory extended to take in Frobisher, Benson and Lampman. In the early 1930s he built the switchboard in the phone office a Lampman and also as a hobby, he built his own snow plane which he used in his line of work and also to drive the doctor around the country. He passed away on October 12, 1956 and is buried at the Thompson Cemetery. GOUDY, Warren Alexander Titus WWI Warren was born in Kingston, Ontario on January 14, 1897. He enlisted in the Army in Estevan on December 24, 1915. He listed his occupation as a farmer. He served with the 152nd Bn during the First World War.
