The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 113 GEIGER, Tony Tony was the son of Joe and Margaret Geiger, who in 1914 arrived in Frobisher from South Qu’Appelle with the family of thirteen children: Jack, Ida, Alex, Barbara, Annie, Tony, Matt, Margaret, Frank, Joe, Jean and Ralph. All the boys worked on the railroad during the course of their lives. Following the death of their mother, their father married Mrs. Hildebrand of Regina who has three children: Frances, John and Frank. GERMANN, Frank WWII Frank was born in Qu’Appelle, Saskatchewan on July 9, 1922. Sport began for Frank when he entered Notre Dame College at age thirteen. As a student, he played and coached baseball, football and hockey. Over the next 51 years, Frank would continue his involvement and coaching at Notre Dame. The war years saw Frank a member of the First Canadian Parachute Battalion; he left Saskatchewan for three years to serve his country. He returned to Notre Dame College in Wilcox as a teacher, coach and athletic director. Frank has received a life membership at the SAHA, as well as the Canadian Amateur Hockey Association’s, “Meritorious Award” in 1978. He was a founding member of the Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame. GIBSON, Arthur WWII Arthur was born at Alameda, Saskatchewan on August 25, 1905. He married Lyla Forsyth in 1928 and had two sons, Larry and Noel. He joined the armed forces on June 24, 1940 and trained in Regina and Ottawa. He was posted overseas on December 14, 1940. He served with Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps in the 8th Canadian Field Ambulance and in the 8th Canadian Field Dressing Station. He served in Great Britain, Sicily, Italy, France, Belgium and Holland during the Second World War. Arthur returned home in June 1945 but didn’t get his discharge until November 1, 1945. He retired from farming and resided in Frobisher.
