The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 103 FORSYTH, Jack WWII Jack was born in the Rockland District. His parents were Hugh and Elizabeth (McCall). Jack served overseas with the Armed Forces during the Second World War. His siblings were Annie, Betty, Norman and Stewart, two died in infancy. Jack and Jean retired and moved from Regina to Brentwood Bay, British Columbia for a while and returned to Saskatoon to complete their retirement. Jack passed away on December 26, 2002. FORSYTH, Norman WWII Norman’s parents were Hugh and Elizabeth (McCall). His siblings were Annie, Jack, Betty, Stewart. Two others died. Norman married Georgina Leadley in Alameda and they lived in Regina. He was employed by Soo Security for many years and worked at the Regina Airport. They had four children, Kenneth, Doreen, Dianne and Donna. Norman served overseas with the Armed Forces during the Second World War. Norman passed away on May 21, 1984. FORSYTH, William “Rover” WWI William was born on January 20, 1891 in St. Marys, Ontario. He served with the Canadian Armed Forces and Canadian Expeditionary Forces from 1917 to 1918. During the First World War, William competed in numerous allied service meets, including the Inter-Allied Games in Paris, as a Canadian representative. Following the war, he competed in track and field events in both Canadian and Saskatchewan championships. In addition to his running, he won championships in discus and pole vault. William’s name was synonymous with winning road races. He won the Regina Standard and Moose Jaw Times’ 10-mile road races in 1909, 1910 and 1911. The three-time Moose Jaw News race champion dominated every local and provincial competition he entered. After winning the Winnipeg Telegram road race in 1910 and 1911, William was selected to travel to Stockholm, Sweden to represent Canada in the 1912 Olympics, where he placed sixteenth in the marathon.
