The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 95 BESSETTE, Bertie August Joseph WWII Bertie was born on July 16, 1919 in Wawota, SK. He enlisted with the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1940 and went overseas in July 1942. There he served in the Royal Air Force Squadron 15. He successfully completed sixteen bombing missions as a rear gunner in a Lancaster bomber. On April 16, 1943, his plane was shot down over Manheim Germany. Bertie and his crew are buried in St. Erme Communal Cemetery, Aisne, France. BINGHAM, Milo Leonard WWII Milo was born on August 25, 1922 on the family farm south of Mankota, SK. He enlisted with the South Saskatchewan Regiment on January 7, 1942. He served as a Private in England, France and Belgium from January 1943 until November 1945. During action in Belgium he was injured, but arrived in Normandy two days after D-Day. He returned to Canada and married Birdena Barkley Anderson on December 24, 1946. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion for twenty years. Milo passed away on October 31, 2006. BIRD, William Reginald WWII William was born on September 10, 1917 in Hagen, SK. He enlisted in the Army and served with the Service Corps in Medica, and as a Cook in England. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Abbotsford and Campbell River Branches. William passed away in 1990.
