The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 87 BANNERMAN, George Brockie WWII George was born in 1885 in New Pitsligo, Scotland. He enlisted with the Army during the First World War and served with the 1st Canadian Field Ambulance in Canada, Britain, France, Belgium and Germany. He was awarded the Military Medal by the Prince of Wales in Regina in the summer of 1919. He served with the Veterans Guard during the Second World War and served in Canada. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion in Burnaby, BC. George passed away in 1977. BARBER, Melvin Russell WWII Melvin was born in 1920 in Oxbow, SK. He enlisted with the Canadian Army during the Second World War and served with the 5 A/T, 65th Battery in England until his discharge. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 117 for fifty-nine years before he passed away in 2004. BARBOUR, Arthur John James “Archie” Archie was born in Macoun, SK in 1925 to Archie and Ruth Barbour. He grew up on the family farm south of Macoun with several brothers and sisters. Private Archie Barbour enlisted in the Canadian Army and at war’s end, he returned home to farm. Evelyn Elliott of Estevan became his wife in 1949 and together they had six children.
