The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 75 ARMSTRONG, David Ronald WWII Ron was born in Rocanville in 1917. He joined the RCAF in late 1940. After training in Ontario and Britain as a radar technician, he served in Scotland and North Africa before taking part in the invasion of Sicily and Italy while he served with Air Ministry Experimental Units, which were mobile, self-contained radar stations. He served with 6039 A.M.E.S., 15052 A.M.E.S. and 11 Radio Unit during the Second World War. He returned to Canada in 1945, where he married his sweetheart, Anita, whom he had not seen for three-and-a-half years. They moved to Pangman, SK where he became the administrator of the RM of Norton #69 and of the Village of Pangman. Ron and Anita had a son and a daughter and eventually enjoyed seven grandchildren. Ron retired in 1980, and subsequently enjoyed summers in Saskatchewan and winters in Texas for fourteen years until his death in 1994. He was a member of Pangman Legion Branch 180 for forty-five years. ARMSTRONG, Douglas WWII Douglas was born in Macoun, SK, the son of Gordon and Martha Armstrong who owned the Armstrong & Co. General Store in Macoun until 1930. He volunteered for service in the Canadian Army, and lived in Richmond, Quebec. ARMSTRONG, George WWI George was born in Powason, ON. He enlisted with the Army during WWI and served in Canada, Belgium, and France until his discharge. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Birch Hill Branch. George passed away in 1949.
