The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 433 FELLS, Jean Jean was born in Leeds, England. She resided in New Farnley before departing for Canada. She married Robert George Fells, a Spr with the 8th Field Squadron, RCE on November 3, 1945 in St. Michaels, Old Farnley, Leeds. She left from Southampton on board the Queen Mary on June 30, 1946 and arrived in Halifax, Nova Scotia and left for Girvin, Saskatchewan by car. She was looking after a little boy whose mother was sick and she became ill with tonsillitis so she ended up in the bed next to her friend. There she had her first experience with penicillin. Emily, her boy, and Jean travelled, Emily to Kingston and Jean to Regina. Jean has been a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Nutana Branch. EAGLES, Dora Dora met William when he served overseas. They married and had their first son, Victor, in England. Dora and her son followed William to Canada after the war. FITCHELL (LOW), Doris Lilian “Betty” WWII Betty was born in South Merstham, Surrey, England on March 24, 1923. She enlisted on June 16, 1943 and served in England with Unit W.R.N.S. Betty married George Fitchell on November 6, 1943 in England. She received her discharge on August 13, 1945 and travelled to Canada as a War Bride with her baby daughter on the ship Aquitania, landing in Halifax on July 27, 1946 then on to Saskatoon, SK. George arrived in Saskatoon about a month later. In the next few years they welcomed a son and a second daughter. It would be 25 years before they made their first return trip to England to visit family and friends left behind. Betty also was a Life Member of the Royal Canadian Legion Saskatoon Branch 63. Betty passed away on February 1, 2002 in Saskatoon.
