The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 427 WALTON, James Francis “Jim” WWII Jim was born in Redvers, SK in 1915. He joined the Army in 1942 and served until March 1946. He received his basic training in Regina, Prince Albert and Camp Borden at Dundurn, SK. He served as Lance Corporal in the Provost Corps during the Second World War. He was a Military Policeman at several locations and when the war ended, he was a Camp Warden. Jim received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal. He married his childhood friend Mary Isabelle Smith in December 1946 and they farmed at Ryerson, SK and retired to Maryfield, SK. Jim was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion for over forty years. He passed away in 1999. WARNE, Alfred Richmond Jr. Alfred was born on December 2, 1918 in Macoun, SK, the only son of Alfred and Grace Warne. The family first lived on the Blondeau farm southwest of Macoun and later moved closer to Macoun. Alfred went to school in Macoun until he joined the Army, enlisting first in the Rocky Mountain Rangers in association with the American Armed Forces. He served in Alaska before transferring to the Calgary Highlanders. He went overseas in 1944 and was killed in action on July 25, 1944 at Caen, France. Alfred is buried at Bretteville-sur-Laize Canadian War Cemetery in Calvados, France. WEIGHILL, F. C. “Tiny” WWII Tiny was born in Davidson, SK in 1916. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force and served with the 142 Squadron RAF/RCAF in England during the First World War. He was taken prisoner from October 1942 until May 1945. Tiny passed away in 1973.
