The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 403 SCHUCK, Peter Peter, born in Poland on January 8, 1901, was the oldest son of Henry and Charlotte Schuck. He received his education in Poland and was fluent in five different languages. His father, Henry, taught Peter the Shoemaker trade. Peter served one year in an office position in the Polish Army when he was eighteen years old. He went to Canada to Stoughton in 1926, and married Molly Yantz of Stoughton on October 9, 1927. Peter worked on the railroad in Stoughton, Torquay and Macoun. He and Molly had seven children. Peter joined the Army in 1940 and worked there as a shoemaker, stationed for the duration of the war in Kingston, ON. Peter had a shoemaker business in Weyburn and commuted from Macoun by train to Weyburn for four years. Peter passed away on March 5, 1967. SETKA, George George was born in 1908 in Montgomery, Minnesota to Wencel and Mary Setka. The family moved to the Macoun area, SK in 1915. George attended Rolling Meadow and Macoun High School. With the coming of farm mechanisation, George found his calling as a mechanic and took a mechanics course in 1930. George’s war service included four years in the Royal Canadian Air Force as an Aircraft Mechanic, serving in Alaska, Mexico, as well as Canada. After the war, he again worked as a mechanic and at other jobs in Prince Albert, SK. In 1950, George married Margaret Barney with whom he had two children. George passed away in 1973. SIGOUIN (KREISER), Sheila Leslie Mary GULF WAR Sheila was born in Melville, SK in 1963. She joined the Canadian Armed Forces in 1984 in Saskatoon, SK. Following basic training at CFB Cornwallis, she was posted to CFB Kingston for six months of trade training at Echo Squadron. Subsequent postings included CFS Masset, NDHQ Ottawa, CFS Leitrim as well as completing two six-month tours at the top of the world at CFS Alert. Sheila was honourably discharged in 1996 and received the Special Service Medal (SSM) and Canadian Decoration (CD). She went on to earn two university degrees in Nursing and Social Work. Sheila now serves as a Registered Nurse and Registered Psychiatric Nurse in her beloved home province of Saskatchewan. She has been a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Regina Branch 1.
