The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 377 PATON, James Elwood “Jim” WWII Jim was born in 1921 in Hounslow, England. He enlisted with the 16/22 Saskatchewan Horse Regiment in 1940. He was transferred to the 1st Special Services Force in 1941. Jim passed away in 1993 in Vernon, BC. PATTENDEN, Walter WWI Walter was born in Wadhurst in 1892 to Ebenezer and Harriett Pattenden of Stonegate. He enlisted in the Army in Canada and was the second of three sons to die in the war. He served in Ypres, Europe with the Saskatchewan Regiment during the First World War. On June 2, 1916, at twenty-four years of age Private Walter Pattenden of the Canadian Infantry (Saskatchewan Regiment) died on the Western Front near Ypres. He is commemorated on the Menin Gate Memorial in Ypres and on Stonegate Church War Memorial, as well as on Cooper’s Store Memorial. PAWLOSKI, Nick WWII Nick was born in 1920 on his family farm. At the age of twentyone, Nick signed up for the war on December 4, 1941 and served with the Canadian Army. He served for five years during the Second World War and was discharged on January 19, 1946. Nick had a great life of ninety-one years but unfortunately passed away in 2011.
