The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 331 MENG, Maurice WWII Maurice was born in Crystal Spring, SK on June 19, 1924. He joined the South Saskatchewan Regiment in June 1943 and trained in Dundurn, SK. He was stationed in England and also served in France and Germany. He was discharged from the Army in 1945 and became a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Fort St. John Branch 102 for fourteen years. Maurice passed away in 1974. MENNING, John WWII John was born in 1923 in Medicine Hat, AB. He moved to the Arborfield, SK area with his family in 1929. He enlisted in the Army, P.A. Volunteers on January 6, 1943 and served in Canada until his discharge in February 1946. After the war, he returned to farm and later married. He took up new land in Carrot River, SK and moved the family there in 1965. John passed away on December 26, 1997. MERRITT, Arthur WWI Arthur enlisted in the Army with the 226th Battalion on January 16, 1916. He served in France and Belgium until his discharge on February 28, 1917 due to bullet wounds. He married Lizzie Everesh and they had two children. Lizzie passed away and he later married Winifred Neal in 1927. They made their home in Sheho, SK where Arthur farmed and became the Postmaster. Arthur passed away on July 4, 1961.
