The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 317 McGREGOR, James Leslie WWII James was born in 1919 in Tompkins, SK. He joined the Queen’s Own Cameron Highlanders in July 1942, was wounded in action in 1944 and sent to England to a hospital for a few weeks, then returned to action until the war ended. Following the war, he married Gladice Gelmer in 1946 and had three children. He received “La Croix de Guerre 1940” with Palm from the Belgium Government. He served in Canada, England, France, Holland, Belgium and Germany. James passed away in 1963. McGUNIGAL, Philip WWII Philip’s parents homesteaded northeast of Imperial, SK and moved to the Arborfield, SK area during the 1930’s. He enlisted in the RCA on October 3, 1941 and served with the 3rd Field Regiment as an Artilleryman in Canada, England, Sicily and Italy. Philip was killed in action in Italy on September 4, 1944. He is buried in the Montecchio War Cemetery in Italy. McKENZIE, Charles WWI & WWII Charles was born in 1896 in Aberdeen, Scotland. He enlisted in the Canadian Expeditionary Force during the First World War where he was gassed. He then joined the Canadian Army Service Corps during the Second World War and served in Europe and Canada. He passed away in 1970.
