The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 293 LLOYD, David “Dave” WWI Dave was born in 1897 in Northbrook, ON and moved with his father to the Arborfield, SK area in 1909 to file for a homestead. He enlisted in the Armed Forces during the First World War and served until the end of the war. Dave passed away on September 20, 1991. LLOYD, Fred WWII Fred was born on January 26, 1924 in Tisdale, SK and moved with his parents in 1927 to “Old Arborfield.” He enlisted in the RCNVR on June 12, 1942 and served aboard the HMCS Columbia and Huron until his discharge on October 4, 1945. After the war, he married, raised four boys and farmed in the Huntdale, SK area. He later worked for the Department of Highways and retired in Carrot River, SK. Fred passed away on August 31, 2007. LOBB, Lennard Erle Joseph WWII Lennard was born in 1916 in Biggar, SK. He served briefly with the Prince Albert and Battleford Volunteers at Camp Dundurn before enlisting with the 17th Searchlight Battery, Royal Canadian Artillery in British Columbia. In July 1941, he transferred to the Royal Canadian Engineers in Ontario, shipping overseas in April 1942 with the 4th Field Company. He participated in Operation Husky, the Battle of Ortona and the smashing of the Hitler Line, lifting landmines and rebuilding bridges. After March 1945, he served in France and Holland and was discharged in October 1945, after completing five years of service. He was awarded the 1939-1945 Star, Italy Star, France and Germany Star, Defence Medal, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp and the War Medal. Lennard passed away in 1990.
