He enlisted in the Army in October 1939, served with the SSR in England during the Second World War and was awarded the 1939-1945 Star, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and a Maple Leaf War Medal. After the war, Walter went back to Wawota to farm with his bride, Dolly, and two daughters. He raised cattle, grew grain and became a father of three boys and two more daughters. His youngest son is still on the home farm raising grain and cattle and working as a carpenter. Walter was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Wawota Branch 113 for twenty-nine years before he passed away in 1994. LINDSAY, Frank WWI Frank was born in 1896 in Eckington, county of Derby, England. He moved to Canada with his family between 1906 and 1909 and by 1913, all the family had moved to Arborfield, SK to get homesteads. He enlisted in the Canadian Army during the First World War and served until his discharge. After the war he married, farmed, owned a sawmill, and raised a family of five. Frank passed away in 1995. LINDSAY, Fred WWI Fred was born in 1893 in Eckington, county of Derby, England. He went to Canada with his family between 1906 and 1909 and by 1913, all the family had moved to Arborfield, SK to get homesteads. He enlisted in the Canadian Army during the First World War and was killed in action in Belgium in 1915. His name is engraved on the Vimy Ridge Canadian War Memorial in France.
