The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 271 LACEY, William Morris WWII William was born in Driver, SK in 1919. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force and served with the 419 Moose Squadron during the Second World War. Flying Officer Morris was killed in action on June 13, 1944 and is buried at Vieux-Berquin near Hazebrouck, France. LAFONTAINE, Urgel WWI Urgel was born on January 10, 1897 in St-Jacques le Mineur, Quebec. He joined the Canadian Army during the First World War and served with the Saskatchewan Regiment in England and France. He married Ida Pepin on January 10, 1929 and they raised six children. He farmed near Montmartre, SK for over forty years, then retired and moved to town in 1960. Urgel passed away on March 15, 1970. LAING, Harry WWII Harry was born on December 29, 1918 in Stockton-on-Tees, County Durham, England. He joined the Rosetown Light AntiAircraft Battery in 1940 and served in Canada, England, Italy and the Netherlands. While in England he married Eileen Cox of Beckenham. Harry passed away in March 2002. In England, Harry is survived by his wife, two sons, a grandson and granddaughter and one great-grandson. The funeral service was held in Beckenham on March 26. Some of Harry’s happiest hours were spent playing ball at sports days on the Saskatchewan Prairie. Although he had been away from Canada for over fifty years, his coffin was draped with a Canadian Flag surmounted by a baseball and bat.
