The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 243 JOHNSTONE, Clifford WWII Clifford was born on May 11, 1914 in Montnebo, SK. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy in 1939 and was called for duty in 1940. He started his training in Saskatoon, SK and then was transferred to the Cornwallis Naval Base in Digby, NS. He served on the high seas as a motor mechanic in the engine rooms of the ships he was on until his discharge in 1945. He was awarded the Atlantic Star, the 1939-1945 Star, the War Medal 1939-1945, and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal. Clifford passed away on January 1, 2001 in Shellbrook, SK JONES, Charlie WWI Charlie was born in Ontario, and he and his brother Herb moved west in 1912 and enlisted in the Army when the First World War broke out. They served overseas with the Canadian Infantry Division until his discharge. When he returned, he received a pension for the injuries that he received while serving. Charlie passed away in 1965. JONES, Raymond E. WWII Raymond was born in 1920 in Quill Lake, SK. He joined the Army in April 1940 and served with the South Saskatchewan Regiment in Canada and England. Raymond passed away in July 1941 while on leave in England.
