The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 223 HERRIOTT, Thompson “Tom” WWII Tom was born in 1922 in Findlater, SK. He enlisted in the Army during the Second World War and served with the Duke of Connaught’s Own in Canada, England and Germany. He was taken as a Prisoner of War in Germany in March 1945 and was released in April that same year. Tom passed away in 2006. HILL, James William WWII James was born in December 1916 in Saskatoon, SK. He was sworn into the Royal Canadian Navy on September 27, 1943. After his initial training, he was sent to Gaspé, QC where he taught the basics of boiler and related equipment to new recruits. He served in Canada and the Atlantic until his honourary discharge on November 10, 1945. He was awarded the 1939-1945 Star, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp and the War Medal 1939-1945. James passed away in April 1995. HILL, William “Bill” WWII Bill was born on May 24, 1921 in Foam Lake, SK. He moved to Arborfield, SK with his family in 1939 and enlisted in the RCNVR on November 17, 1942. He served aboard the minesweeper HMCS Malpeque until his discharge on December 17, 1945. After the war, he was married and became a carpenter. Bill passed away on June 13, 1993.
