The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 213 HASSLER, Deon Deon was born in Orange, California in 1962. He served in the United States Navy in the Pacific from 1982 to 1988. He was injured on duty when he was caught by a grappling hook onboard a tug boat. He had lots of good times being overseas in the Philippines and visiting all the other countries. HAUGEN, William Loren “Bill” WWII Bill was born in 1920 in Strongfield, SK. He was a Private in the Service Corps and worked as a Driver Mechanic in charge of a packet of six trucks. Bill lost his only brother, Willard, in 1943, who was a Rear Gunner in the Air Force and was shot down over Flensburg, Germany. Bill married in England, had two children there and returned to Canada after the war where and had five more children. He served in Italy, Holland and England. Bill passed away in 1998 in Pierceland, SK at the age of seventy-eight. HAWES, Bruce WWII Bruce enlisted in the RCAMC on April 30, 1945 and served in Canada until his discharge on October 2, 1945. He re-enlisted in the Army and served until his retirement. Bruce moved to British Columbia where he later passed away.
