The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 203 HAINES, Samuel WWI Samuel was born on February 3, 1885 in Wingham, Ontario. He moved to the Jordan River area in 1912 with his brother to file for homesteads. He enlisted with the Army in December of 1916 and served with the Canadian Expeditionary Force, 190th Battalion overseas. He suffered from wounds and gas inhalation, went back to Jordan River in 1919, married in 1923 and they had four children. Samuel passed away in 1942. HALL, Everett S. WWII Everett was born on October 26, 1913 in Nunda, NY, USA. He enlisted in the Army on February 6, 1944 and took his basic training in Barrie, Ontario. He didn’t go overseas as he had a short tendon in one leg, so he served in Peterborough, ON with Platoon #13 and #15. He was also in the Medical Corps as well as serving as a Military Policeman on the base in Canada until his discharge in January 1945. Everett passed away on April 13, 1992. HALL, Hector WWII Hector was born in 1908 in Marlborough, United Kingdom. He joined the Canadian Army on February 10, 1941 in Saskatoon and served with the 13th Field Regiment RCA in Canada, the UK and Continental Europe. He saw action in Normandy, the Scheldt Pocket and in the liberation of Holland. In 1945, he married a Belgian girl and remained stationed in Holland until December 1945. He returned to Saskatchewan on New Year’s Eve 1945 and was discharged at Regina, SK on February 5, 1946. Hector was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 87 from 1946 until his death in 1975.
