The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 197 GREEN, Moses WWI Moses was born on November 21, 1872 in Burnley, Lancashire, England. He enlisted with the 214th Saskatchewan Battalion, CEF on March 13, 1916 along with his son Arthur, son-in-law Ted Biggs and cousin, Harold Farrar, training at Sewell, Leslie and Camp Hughes. While serving, he was wounded in France and was discharged in Regina, SK on November 25, 1918. Moses returned to farming until he sold the farm to his son Fred, yet continued to take an active part in gardening. Years later, Moses spent the winters in Vancouver with his family and passed away on April 19, 1948 and was laid to rest in the Field of Honour Mountain View Cemetery in Vancouver, BC. GREEN, Thomas W. WWII Thomas was born in August 1919 in Shellbrook, SK. He enlisted with the Saskatoon Rifles in June 1940 and traveled Saskatchewan on an Army motorcycle as part of the recruiting effort. He transferred to the 13th Field Regiment-44th Battery RCA in 1942 to be with his brother Doug on the same Gun Unit. They trained in England and served in England, France, Belgium and Holland. He returned to Canada in 1945 for his discharge. Thomas returned to the Shellbrook area to live out the rest of his life. Thomas passed away in 1991. GRUMETZA, Edward WWII Edward was born in Sheho, SK and attended the Sheho School. He enlisted in the Canadian Army in November 1943 and served with the Troop Training Wing in Esquimalt, BC for three years until his discharge as Private in 1946. He married Ethel Didluck and they had one daughter. Edward passed away in November 1970.
