The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 191 GOULD, William Roland WWI & WWII William was born in 1898 in Walkertown, Ontario. He enlisted in the Army during the First World War and served with the Fort Garry Horse Regiment in Canada and Russia. In the First World War, he went to East Russia and during the Second World War, he did his basic training in Trenton, ON and served in Yarmouth, NS, Yorkton, SK, Patricia Bay and Sea Island, BC and Saskatoon, SK. He reenlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1941 with the rank of Pilot Officer and was discharged with the rank of Flying Officer. William passed away in 1966. GOVENLOCK, Gordon WWII Gordon was born on July 15, 1915 in Berton, MB. He went to Jordan River in 1938 to enlist in the Army with the Provost Corps on July 1, 1942. He served in Canada, England, Holland and Germany until his discharge on May 5, 1946. After the war, he moved to BC and was married there. Gordon passed away on May 12, 2003. GRAHAM, John Robert “Bob” WWI Bob was born in Arlington, England in July 1892. He moved to Canada to live with his Aunt Margaret and Uncle William Kendall Jr. in 1912, and worked at the local lumber yard and for different farmers in the area. When the First World War broke out, Bob and his best friend Bill Bell joined the Army and served overseas in Britain and the front line trenches in France. After his discharge in 1919, Bob went back to Macrorie, SK to farm and after retiring, he returned to England and married his widowed cousin Ethel. Along with his friends Charles Seymour and Bill Blundell, Bob was instrumental in the founding of The Royal Canadian Legion Macrorie Branch 239, of which he was the first President. Bob passed away in January 1982, and Ethel shortly after.
